Online Card Games for Community Nights With More Than Eight People

By eggverse · · 4 min read

For a community card night with more than eight people, use separate rooms and rotate participants after both tables finish. Spoons, The Yolk’s On You and Texas Hold’em each support two to eight human players on eggverse. Speed is for two. A larger audience does not increase a room’s limit, and this plan does not move players automatically.

A twelve person plan that keeps everyone playing

Assign participants numbers 1 to 12 and begin with two groups of six in The Yolk’s On You. Choose one host for each table. Label invitations “Table A” and “Table B” in your own event message so people know which one to open.

Original manual assignment diagram: round one uses participants 1–6 at Table A and 7–12 at Table B. Round two sends 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 to A and 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 to B.

11, 2, 3, 4, 5, 67, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
21, 2, 3, 7, 8, 94, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12

Wait until both games finish, then ask three people from each group to change tables. Hosts organise the next invitations; participants join the assigned room themselves. Confirm each table’s roster before starting. These numbers are your assignment sheet, not game seats or an in game feature.

Smaller tables may make teaching easier, even when eight can join. Speed needs pairs instead: twelve people would need six separate two player matches. Each room runs its own game; scores and results are not combined into a community leaderboard.

Make joining clear before the first game

Each host chooses the game, creates a friends room and shares its invitation. An invite link opens the room; a code can be entered on Join a room. The EGG- prefix is already filled in, so guests type only the five digits. Full prefixed codes and older invitations still work. Keep table labels outside the code and check that everyone has reached the right room before readying up.

For an in person gathering, Couch Play also offers The Yolk’s On You and Texas Hold’em with a shared screen and private phone controllers. Each Couch room still has at most eight human players. Spoons currently uses regular play on each person’s own device. More than eight people still need separate rooms and, for Couch Play, separate shared screens.

Explain the rule that can surprise newcomers

  • The Yolk’s On You: claims can be challenged for three seconds using the BLUFF ? button. One wrong card makes a claim false; the loser of the challenge takes the whole pile.
  • Spoons: the first grab requires four matching ranks. After that grab, everyone can try for a remaining spoon. A premature grab or missing a spoon can eliminate you.
  • Texas Hold’em: teach check, call, raise and fold. The table uses free chips, not real money. Folding ends your participation in that hand.

Handle late arrivals and uneven finishes

Keep a waiting list and bring late arrivals into the next game where the room has space. Do not promise a seat in a game already running. If one table finishes first, let it chat or agree to a practice game while the other finishes. Rotation is a convenience, not a reason to abandon an ongoing round.

Use a voice channel if your group wants one. Keep private cards off a shared competitive screen. Before ending, ask which rule needed another example; that gives the next host something concrete to improve.

Can twelve or eighteen people play in one eggverse card room?

No. Spoons, The Yolk’s On You and Texas Hold’em each allow two to eight human players. Use separate rooms for a larger community.

Is the room rotation automatic?

No. This is a manual assignment plan. Hosts share invitations and participants join the next table between completed games.

Which card games can eight friends share?

Spoons, The Yolk’s On You and Texas Hold’em currently support eight humans in regular friends rooms. Speed supports two.

Do participants need to type EGG- themselves?

No. Join fields include EGG- already. Enter the host’s five digits, or open or paste an existing invitation.
