Run a Remote Team Speed Tournament Without Knocking Anyone Out

For a remote Speed event, pair people for two player matches, rotate opponents between completed matches and skip elimination brackets. Everyone gets another opponent after a loss. This is a host organised format using ordinary eggverse rooms, not a built in tournament or automatic matchmaking mode.

An eight person pairing sheet

Assign each participant a letter from A to H after they opt in. This three round plan gives everyone three different opponents, with nobody knocked out. It is a short rotation, not a complete round robin.

RoundPair 1Pair 2Pair 3Pair 4
1A + BC + DE + FG + H
2A + CB + DE + GF + H
3A + EB + FC + GD + H

For each pairing, the first named person opens Speed, uses an Invite seat in the preview and shares that room’s invitation with their assigned partner. The partner joins and readies up; the host starts when both are there. Leave optional bot seats empty for this human event.

Label messages with the round and pair, such as “Round 2, A + C”. Keep each invitation with its assigned pair rather than dropping four unlabeled links into the main chat. At the next rotation, leave the old room and create or join the room for your new pair. The host keeps the pairing sheet outside the game.

Teach one rule, then practise

Both players act at once in Speed. Play one rank higher or lower on either centre pile; suits do not matter. Ace connects King and two. Each player starts with twenty cards: five visible and fifteen in stock. The visible hand refills automatically while stock remains. Clear both your hand and stock to win.

Ask each pair to run a warm up before the scored rounds. Read the Speed rules and controls guide first so everyone knows how to use both piles on their device. Different devices and practice levels can change how comfortable the race feels. Keep participation optional and do not treat results as a measure of work performance.

Rotate after matches finish

Set a check in time, but let active matches finish before changing partners. This plan does not promise a fixed match length or event duration. Pairs who finish early can chat or take a break. Repeated extra scored matches would give them more chances to collect points than slower pairs.

For an odd headcount, rotate a voluntary break seat each round so the same person is not always waiting. Add late arrivals at the next rotation. If someone needs to leave, redraw the next pairing before sending invitations.

Keep scoring optional

For a casual night, meeting different opponents is enough. If the group wants scores, record one result per scheduled round in your own sheet. For example, give one point for a win and zero for a loss. Agree before play whether a disconnect means replaying the match or recording no result. Tied totals can stay tied; a knockout final is not needed.

Those points belong to your event sheet. They are not an official eggverse tournament leaderboard, and the game will not schedule the next opponent for you.

Finish on the shared call and ask which pace people preferred. For a later event with an untimed two player board game, try Royal Shells.

Quick answers

Can all eight people join one Speed match?

No. Speed has two seats. This plan runs four separate matches at a time and rotates their human opponents.

Does eggverse organise the tournament automatically?

No. The host assigns pairs, shares invitations and tracks optional results manually. Each pair plays an ordinary friends match.

Is this a cooperative team game?

Speed is competitive. Rotating opponents creates a social event around it, but does not turn it into cooperative play or establish a productivity benefit.

How long will the event take?

There is no guaranteed duration. Allow time for setup and a warm up, then rotate only after active matches finish.
