Learning Bad Egg without the pressure.

Bad Egg is a social deduction game for four to eight players. Everyone finishes chores around a house. One player is secretly the bad egg and can sabotage the lights or crack another egg. When you find something, you report it, the crew discusses, and everyone votes on who to throw out. The crew wins by finishing the chores or voting out the bad egg; the bad egg wins by outnumbering the crew.

It is a good game and a hard one to join. The rules take a few rounds to feel, and those first rounds happen in front of a group that is waiting for you.

Practice with labelled bots

So there is a solo mode. You play the house with bots, and the bots are labelled — you can see which one is the bad egg. It is not trying to be a fair round. It is trying to let you learn the other half:

  • Where the rooms are, and which chores are in them.
  • What a sabotage looks like when it happens near you.
  • What the report and vote flow does, before it matters.

You can practise either role. Playing the bad egg against labelled bots is the faster way to understand what the crew can and cannot see.

The vote now has a reveal

After a vote, every player watches the same short reveal: the voted egg walks out, cracks, and shows whether it was innocent or the bad egg. Play resumes only afterwards. The ballot — who picked whom, who skipped, who missed — is published after each vote and kept in a compact disclosure, while everyone's live choice stays private until then.

Then bring people

Once the house is familiar, the real version is four to eight players in a room. That is where the game lives — the sabotage that lands, the accusation that does not, and the vote that goes badly wrong.

How many players does Bad Egg need?

Four to eight in a friend room. Solo practice fills the house with labelled bots so you can play alone.

What are the controls?

Walk with WASD or the arrow keys, or the thumb stick on a phone. Use a nearby chore with E or the Open mission button, and report a cracked egg with R or the Report button.

Can I practise as the bad egg?

Yes. Choose the impostor role when starting practice and the bots play the crew.
