Eggstra! Eggstra! — Notes from inside the Eggverse.

A place for your whole egg crew.

· 2 min read

Six egg friends — an aviator, a chef, a happy egg, a robot, a cowgirl and a backpacker — on a purple platform among the clouds.

The Friends page is where you play Eggverse with other people. Pick a game from the carousel at the top, and the stage below shows the room you are about to make — one seat for every player that game allows, with your own egg already in the first one. Create the room, share its invite link, and your friends land in the same waiting room. Or type a room code someone sent you and join theirs.

Start from the games, not from a form

Until this week, playing with friends meant knowing which game you wanted before you got there. Now you land on a row of every game you can play together, each with its cover art. Scroll it with the egg-shaped arrows at either edge, or just drag. Select a game and the party stage updates to match.

The right number of seats

The stage is a courtyard with a seat for every player the selected game allows. Ember Volley and Shellbreaker show two. Egg Stack shows up to four. Neon Nest and Egg on the Run show eight. Bad Egg needs at least four to start. Those counts come from each game's actual rules, so what you see on the stage is what the room will hold.

The Friends page party stage: a courtyard with the player's egg in the first seat and seven empty seats marked Invite for Neon Nest.
Neon Nest selected: one egg, seven open seats. The stage shows the game's real player limit.

Create or join, side by side

Below the stage, Create room and Join a room sit next to each other on desktop and stack on a phone. Creating a room makes it for the selected game and takes you straight to its waiting room, which uses the same courtyard stage. Joining takes a room code and tells you clearly when a code is wrong. Nobody needs an account — guests can create and join rooms.

A little egg personality

Hover or tap your egg on the stage and it says hello. It is a small thing, and it is the kind of small thing the Eggverse is built out of. Signed-in players will also notice the account page now asks you to claim your username.

How many friends can play together in Eggverse?

It depends on the game. Ember Volley and Shellbreaker take two players, Egg Stack two to four, Neon Nest and Egg on the Run two to eight, and Bad Egg four to eight. The Friends page shows the exact number of seats before you create a room.

Do my friends need an account to join my room?

No. Anyone with the invite link or the room code can join as a guest. Signing in keeps your egg and name with you between devices.

How do I join a friend's room?

Open their invite link, or go to Friends, type the room code into Join a room, and press Join. The code is shown in the waiting room of every game.
